SUMMARY:Live Cinema: "La boheme" - Royal Opera
DESCRIPTION:Gesa Power House Theatre will screen the current Royal Opera production of "La boh me" on Wednesday\, November 8 at 6:00 p.m. This production is filmed live in London and rebroadcast internationally to select screens.\n\nWhen Rodolfo\, a penniless poet\, meets Mim \, a seamstress\, they fall instantly in love. But their happiness is threatened when Rodolfo learns that Mim is gravely ill.\n\n\n\nAcclaimed director Richard Jones (Boris Godunov\, Il trittico) directs a new production of Puccini's La boh me. Irresistible in its witty\, passionate blend of comedy and tragedy\, the opera focusses on the lives of a group of young artists as they eke out an existence on the bohemian fringes of Paris\, the capital of the 19th century. Jones brings his characteristically acute insight to this much-loved classic\, visualized in Stewart Laing's spectacular\, stylized 1850s setting.\n\n\n\nPuccini's romantic depiction of bohemian Paris\, with memorable music and a love story drawn from everyday life\, has captivated audiences around the world\, making La boh me one of the best-loved of all operas. It was first performed in Covent Garden in 1897 and has had more than five hundred performances there since.\n\n\n\nThis screening runs approximately 2 hours 35 minutes including one intermission and an onscreen introduction. Beer\, wine\, and snacks will be available for purchase.\n\n\n\nGeneral admission tickets ($15 Adults\, $10 Students) are available online or by calling the box office at 509-529-6500. SUNG IN ITALIAN WITH ENGLISH SURTITLES
