Help us welcome special guest presenters Heidi Dobson and Kate Frey as they transport us into the wonderful world of pollinators and how we can help them thrive! Dr. Dobson is a Spencer F. Baird Professor of Biology, Director of the Anderson Herbarium (WCW) and Director of the Whitman teaching greenhouse. Heidi has been a professor at Whitman College since 1992. She and her students study the relationship between bees and the flowers they visit and pollinate, revealing more about the world of insects. Her passion about her craft and her desire to teach others is a true blessing for our community. Kate Frey is is a world class garden designer and consultant, specializing in sustainable, bio-diverse, ecological gardens and landscaping. In Kate's words 'Flower-filled gardens make us happy, support many species of bees and much other biodiversity beneficial to our gardens and our lives. We all desire our gardens to be full of color and interest for many months of the year, yet what combinations of flowers appeal to bees and why? How can we put them together in compositions that work well with the parameters of our site, in combinations that suit us, and cater to bee’s needs? This talk will show you how look at your garden with new eyes, and how to create beautiful and inspirational landscapes that will forever transform your relationship with your yard.' We're so grateful to have this wonderfully talented duo share their expertise with us! Please join us - FREE and open to the public! No registration required.
